Dessa AI is a conversational speech model. Its team describes a model trained on human conversation audio, without text or pretrained models.
The Dessa model responds to spoken audio. Its research focus is conversation, rather than reading a supplied script aloud.
The Dessa voice model is full-duplex, according to its developers: listening and speaking can overlap, including brief responses during another speaker’s turn.
Dessa voice research explores timing, emphasis and nonverbal sounds. Listen to the samples and judge the delivery alongside the words.
Dessa AI demos show selected conversations, not a controlled benchmark. A convincing voice does not guarantee a correct answer.

Dessa AI is a speech-to-speech model designed for spoken conversation. Its developers describe it as full-duplex, meaning it can listen while speaking. This independent website provides model recordings alongside separate voice studio tools.
Its published focus is speech-to-speech conversation. Dessa AI text to speech on this website is a separate tool; it is not evidence of an official model TTS API.
The developers describe responses to tone and other vocal cues. The recordings let you explore that claim; emotional-sounding speech does not demonstrate feelings or consciousness.
The developers report that Dessa AI runs locally on a MacBook Pro with M4 Max or better. We haven’t independently verified the hardware requirements or local setup.
This independent studio integrates GPT-Live-1 for Live Talk and HeyGen Voice for Text to Speech. Dessa model recordings are provided separately in Samples; they are not recordings of this studio.

Live Talk uses one credit per six seconds of confirmed provider usage, rounded up. A temporary credit reservation limits each call; unused credits return after settlement. Text to Speech uses one credit per 1,000 characters, rounded up.
A failed connection with no confirmed usage costs zero credits. Unused reservations are returned. If final usage cannot be confirmed, only the last confirmed usage is charged; the account ledger shows the result.
